Welcome to the CBC Assessment Center!
Your success is our top priority--even before you sign up for classes! We want you
to know which classes are right for you, from the program you want to pursue to the
level of English and math you'll need to complete it. That's where the Assessment
Center comes in; we're here to help you figure out where to get started on your journey
to success at CBC!
Whether you're in need of course placement or an industry certification, we offer
a wide variety of assessment tools to help you meet your educational, professional
and personal goals.
Schedule an appointment!
Complete an online admission application and receive a student ID number before scheduling a testing appointment. Testing is free for students applying to CBC!
Testing for a union or another institution? Skip this step! Instead, contact the Assessment Center at 509-547-0511 or by%20email to learn how to schedule an appointment and pay the $40 testing fee. Bring the receipt to your testing session along with a current picture ID to expedite your appointment!
Follow our Getting Started steps after receiving your acceptance letter to CBC. One of these steps allows you to schedule a placement test appointment online.
Another option for scheduling an assessment appointment is to reach us on the phone. Call 509-547-0511 today!
The Directed Self Placement option is free and can be accessed anytime from any location with an internet connection! To ensure you have enough time to complete all modules in one session, we encourage you to dedicate at least two hours to complete the assessments. You may need less time if you are re-testing in one or two areas.
1. Bring your current photo ID.
The Assessment Center is unable to provide testing services if you do not have a valid photo ID.
2. Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your appointment.
Give yourself a few extra minutes to get checked in and ready to test!
3. Leave all personal belongings at home.
To maintain testing security, all personal items (including cell phones, calculators, food, drinks, etc.) will be collected prior to your test. CBC cannot assume responsibility for the loss or damage of anything brought into the Assessment Center. Pencils, paper and an online calculator will be provided during your test, if applicable.
4. Tell your support person you'll see them when your test is finished.
Your friend or relative will not be able to accompany you into the testing room. Please review our Campus Safety Measures page for current requirements for campus visitors.
5. Pay your test fee prior to your testing appointment (if applicable)
Most test fees can be paid on campus at Hawk Central, conveniently located adjacent to the Assessment Center. Hawk Central accepts cash, personal and cashier's checks, money orders, Visa and MasterCard.
Services for qualified students with disabilities are available! Students who have documented learning and/or physical disabilities need to request testing accommodations by contacting CBC Disability Support Services at 509-452-4412, by%20email or by visiting Room T403 in the T Building on the Pasco campus before scheduling a placement test.

While I've been employed at CBC since 2014, I joined the Assessment Center team in December 2019. I am proud to be a part of helping students pursue their life goals through education. Golda Meir inspires me: "Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life. Fan the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement."

I've worked for the Assessment Center since 2017. I thoroughly enjoy interacting with a variety of students on a daily basis and assisting them with finding success here at CBC. I live by these words: "Control what you can. Confront what you can't."

I've worked in higher education for over 20 years, and in the Assessment Center for the past seven and enjoy providing opportunities for students to grow and make an impact within their families, communities and the world. Toni Morrison offers me words to live by: "A friend gathers all the pieces and gives them back in the right order."

I have worked with the CBC Assessment Center since November 2017. The best part of my job is that every day is different. I enjoy facing fresh challenges and helping students overcome obstacles. My motto: Positive mind. Positive vibes. Positive life.
The Assessment Center is a National College Testing Association (NCTA) Certified Testing Center.
