What is the GED?
The GED® is a high school equivalency test. When you pass the GED®, you earn a certificate that is the same as a high school diploma in the United States. You can use it to go to college, get a better job, or reach personal goals.
At Columbia Basin College (CBC), we offer GED® prep classes to help you learn , practice, and pass the GED® Tests.

Who Should Take GED® Classes?
our GED® prep program is for adults who:
- Did not finish high school.
- Want to qualify for college or job training.
- Need a diploma for a better job or promotion
We are here to help you reach your goals. We will meet you where you are!
How the Classes Work
Our teachers will help you study the four GED® subjects:
- Reading and Writing (Language Arts)
- Math
- Science
- Social Studies
You'll get:
- Step-by-step lessons in small, friendly classes.
- Practice tests (GED® Readies)
- one-on-one help when you need it.
- Options for morning or evening classes
- Access to GED® Prep Software 24-7 (Aztec)

What You'll Gain

Cost and Financial Help
- Classes have a cost of $25 per quarter
- Fee waivers are available if you need help paying .

How to Get Started

1. Attend a GED® Information Session
learn about the program and see if it's a good fit for you.

2. Complete the online Enrollment Essentials Course
Learn additional information about our programs and tips on how to succeed.

3. Attend a Practice Test
This test will gives us a baseline to work from, to help us place you in the right class.

4. Attend a New Student Welcome
Get set up with CBC student email, Canvas, and other tools. Tour the campus and meet staff and other students.

5. Start Your Classes
Build skills, complete official exams, and earn your GED certificate!
