Multi-Occupational Trades Degree AAS

Overview

The Multi-Occupational Trades (MOT) Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree at Columbia Basin College (CBC) recognizes the skills and experience of journey-level apprentices. This degree provides college credit for prior apprenticeship training and prepares students for career advancement, leadership roles, and transfer to a bachelor’s program. A journeyman must have completed their apprenticeship with a CBC affiliated apprenticeship partner to qualify for the MOT degree at CBC.

Apprenticeship AAS Career Pathway

Journey Card Use

CBC accepts journey-level credentials from CBC registered apprenticeship partnered programs to apply for the MOT AAS degree:

How to Apply Using Your Journey Card:

  1. Verify your apprenticeship completion and journey card status with CBC CTE.
  2. Gather documentation: journey card and RSI completion letter from JATC.
  3. Apply to CBC as a student in the MOT AAS program. Link to CBC application
  4. Submit your journey-level documentation for credit evaluation to our CBC registration office (Hawk Central). Link to hawk central
  5. Register for remaining required courses in consultation with a completion coach.

CBC Apprentices in the following trades are eligible for the MOT AAS pathway at CBC:

  • Plumbing/Pipefitting
  • Aerospace
  • Finishing Trades

  • WA State Firefighter
  • Additional occupations recognized by CBC JATCs

Transfer Opportunities

The MOT AAS degree provides a seamless pathway to Eastern Washington University (EWU) for a Bachelor of Science in Applied Technology (BSAT):

  • Admission Requirements: Completion of AAS, AAAS, or ATA degree with GPA ≥ 2.5
  • Program Structure: Typically 15–16 credits per quarter for 2 years
  • Additional Courses: Up to six additional courses if prerequisites are not satisfied
  • Supporting Courses: Chemistry (CHEM 121 or equivalent), Math (MATH 142 or equivalent)
