Pasco, WA. - On Thursday, Sept. 10 and Friday, Sept. 11 Columbia Basin College (CBC) will host a drive-through welcome for first-year students who have enrolled for fall quarter.

FYI stands for “First Year Introduction.” It’s a welcome seminar new CBC students are required to attend. This year it will be online only. The seminar introduces students to the campus in a virtual format, helps them navigate the college process and improves student retention and completion. Faculty will work online with new students to discuss college expectations, terminology, study skills, CBC learning outcomes, campus resources, the characteristics of successful students, academic honesty and how to develop an educational plan.

In the drive-through welcome, students will receive welcome boxes generously sponsored by STCU, including a welcome gift and orientation packet. It’s all designed to make students feel welcome and a part of something this academic year.

CBC is still welcoming applications for fall quarter, which begins Sept. 21.

This is the second year STCU has generously committed to sponsoring CBC’s new-student welcome events. In addition to supporting the success of college students, STCU is also providing virtual tools for K-12 teachers to help students with financial literacy.

Where: CBC’s Pasco Campus, 2600 N. 20th Ave., Pasco, WA 99301. Event will take place in front of the H Building in the center of campus. View our Pasco campus virtual map.

When: THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 3-5pm; and FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 10-NOON at CBC’s Pasco Campus.
