Columbia Basin College (CBC) is excited to announce that we have been awarded the Career Launch Equipment Grant. The grant from SBCTC will enable our agriculture program to acquire a Precision Needle Seeder, Multi-Crop Berry Harvester, and a Rough Terrain Forklift.

A vital component of CBC’s AAS in Agricultural Production degree is to provide students with a deeper understanding of the science and technology embedded within modern agriculture. The equipment purchased with the grant funding will allow these tools to be incorporated into courses to help provide an understanding of the associated technologies used in precision ag.

“Providing our students with the technologies essential to succeed in their careers as Ag and Field Science Technicians, Ag Mechanics, Hydroponic Consultants, and Greenhouse Managers is important to their future success,” says Dr. Sandya Kesouju, Director for Agriculture Education, Research & Development. “Real world experience that students gain within our Ag Program provides an experience that will help them as they enter the field,” says Roderick Taylor, Dean for Math, Science & Engineering.

The grant is funded by the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges.
