Columbia Basin College has chosen to postpone a public ceremony honoring its 2022 Martin Luther King, Jr. Spirit Award Winner, given the recent increase in local COVID-19 transmission. The college is working with this year’s winner to find a suitable opportunity to celebrate the award at a future date.

CBC will announce and honor the winner virtually on its social media channels on Monday, January 17, when the college is closed in honor of MLK Day. That same day, the “Making a Dream” drive-through food distribution event will continue as planned in the college’s H Building Parking Lot on its Pasco Campus, from 8:30 am to 11 am.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Spirit Award seeks to recognize a student, faculty or staff member, or community member who strongly believes in equality and social justice; and whose contributions to society reflect the spirit, philosophy and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
