PASCO, Wash.- Columbia Basin College (CBC) is excited to announce that we have been awarded a Title V HSI Grant. The grant is focused on increasing diverse students’ retention and sense of belonging and improve their academic, social and emotional success, from enrollment through completion. The grant funding is $3 million dollars over 5 years.

“As an HSI, CBC is committed to educational access for all students and creating a pathway for social mobility in life,” says Dr. Michael Lee, Vice President for Instruction. The grant will fund an Equity Center, faculty development, and course and curriculum redesign. This focus will support reducing gaps between First-Time-Entering College Hispanic and non-Hispanic students in retention and completion or transfer.

In parallel, the evidence-based completion coaching model at CBC will be expanded and improved. Cheryl Holden, Vice President for Student Services says that “focusing on Hispanic, low-income and underrepresented student success outcomes through increased training will give our students a better opportunity for success.”

The grant is funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Grant award number P031S220120. The three million-dollar grant will support the entire CBC student body.
