Columbia Basin College Unveils New Dental Hygiene Clinic

On Friday, CBC representatives, students and members of the community gathered for the ribbon cutting of the school’s new dental hygiene clinic.
“This project started in 2017 as a colored pencil sketch dream,” said Tammy Sanderson, director of the dental hygiene program.
That dream blossomed into what is now a 16,961 square foot clinic boasting a laboratory, radiology and classroom spaces, a patient waiting room and more. Capacity has also increased from 12 patient chairs to 22.
“We are so proud to be able to teach our students and serve our patients in this beautiful, new, modern facility,” said Rebekah Woods, president of CBC.
The facility allows dental hygiene students to perfect their craft while offering low-cost care for people in the community. The new clinic will allow the program to increase the number of students they accept and expand their clientele.
“We got to work in the old clinic and now being able to go into the new clinic, you realize what a blessing this…it’s just so cool” said Shelby Williams, now a senior in the program. “We have the comparison.”
The clinic is located on the fourth floor of CBC’s Medical Science Center in Richland at 940 Northgate Drive.
