At CBC, we believe it's important for students to be informed and feel empowered about their financial responsibilities. As part of our commitment to transparency and your success, you will be asked to review and accept the Student Financial Responsibility Agreement (SFRA) each year.
This agreement is intended to help you understand your financial obligations when enrolling in classes and outlines the College’s related policies.
It’s a simple way for you to acknowledge your financial responsibilities and be aware of what to expect if any issues arise. We're here to support you and ensure you have all the information you need to make informed decisions about your education.
Most students enrolling in courses that charge tuition and/or fees will need to complete the SFRA before registering for classes for the upcoming academic year.
Some students may be exempt; this includes those who are younger than 18 years old and certain populations only taking Continuing Education courses.
The SFRA is a required agreement that outlines financial obligations and responsibilities while attending Columbia Basin College. You will complete the SFRA in ctcLink by selecting “Holds.” If you are registering outside of ctcLink, a paper version may be provided.
You must complete the SFRA once per academic year (summer through spring), or again if there are updates to the agreement.
If you’re required to complete the SFRA, you must review and accept it each year; otherwise, you won’t be able to register for classes.
Even if your tuition and fees are covered by financial aid, a third-party payer, or other funding sources, you are still responsible for any unpaid balances. This includes charges not covered by your funding, such as library fines, lost equipment, or other incidental fees. If your funding changes or does not cover the full amount, you are responsible for paying the remaining balance on your account. It is important to understand this responsibility and the terms outlined in the SFRA.
The SFRA hold will prevent you from registering for classes until the agreement is accepted. This hold will begin with winter quarter 2026 registration and be required annually for each academic year (summer through spring). Once you complete the SFRA, the hold will be removed, allowing you to register for classes.
If you complete the SFRA within ctcLink, the hold will be removed immediately. If you complete the paper version, the College will manually remove the hold within one to two business days.
Yes. A copy is available in your ctcLink self-service Tasks menu. Once signed, you will be able to go back and review it. If you sign a paper version of the form, please retain a copy for your records.
