The Entrepreneurship and Business Development certificate at CBC provides support to individuals looking to build and launch their own business or capitalize on a great idea. The courses assist you with creating a solid business plan, working on product prototypes and networking with industry professionals to learn the best practices to jump start your career. This program was formerly known as Entrepreneurship & Innovation.

In addition to meeting successful guest speakers, this certificate will also match entrepreneurship students with mentors from the SCORE program. Students will have opportunities to attend local business gatherings, work in shared office and kitchen spaces and create in makerspace workshops for prototype development.

    Business Owners operate their own companies and handle responsibilities such as creating business plans, arranging financing, hiring staff, reviewing sales, developing marketing strategies, overseeing daily activities and identifying business opportunities.

  • Small Business Owner

    Being a small business owner can be a great career move if you are independent, self-motivated and possess excellent interpersonal skills. You’ll also need a strong work ethic and the ability to adapt to a variety of situations.

Entrepreneurship and Business Development Program Learning Outcomes

Program learning outcomes are the knowledge, skills, and abilities that students will achieve before they graduate. The outcomes below were developed by the faculty in Business with input from accrediting bodies, advisory committees, employers, etc. This collaboration ensures that the outcomes are relevant for careers that this degree leads to.

Students who graduate with a Entrepreneurship and Business Development Certificate will be able to:
1.      Identify promising business opportunities based on self-assessment and market analysis.
2.      Assess the viability of business ideas using quantitative reasoning.
3.      Develop effective marketing strategies for entrepreneurial ventures.
