New Student Recreation Center Coming 2022
Opening its doors in 2022, CBC’s new Student Recreation Center (SRC) will provide
a state-of-the-art venue for fitness and athletics. A “topping-off” ceremony in early June celebrated the mid-way point of construction, as workers laid the final steel beam of the building’s internal skeleton. The 80,000
sq. ft. facility will boast three gymnasiums – one dedicated for basketball and volleyball
competition (named “Holden Court” in honor of legendary women’s basketball coach Cheryl
Holden), one for athletic team practice and one available for general use fitness
and recreation. The college’s Fitness Center will be expanded and upgraded. Other
space within the SRC will be dedicated for Esport practice and competition. CBC’s
long-time athletics venue, the “Hawks’ Nest,” will remain in use throughout construction.
The SRC project is being constructed by Lydig Construction, with design by RGU Architecture.
