Columbia Basin College Student Housing is open to students who meet the following eligibility requirements: Age Requirement
Applicants under the age of 17 as of the beginning of the contract date will not be accepted. Parental or legal guardian consent is required for applicants who are under the age of 18 and not emancipated as of the beginning of the contract. Contact the CBC Office of Student Housing for further information at housing@columbiabasin.edu.

Satisfactory Academic Progress & Financial Standing Requirements
Resident must be and remain in good standing as stated in WAC 132S-100-112 in CBC Student Code of Conduct. Residents who do not remain in good standing risk termination of the contract. 

Enrollment in CBC Requirement
Resident must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours per quarter and attending classes (Summer Quarter not included). Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis by CBC's Director for Residential Life.

You should have received an email within 24 hours after receiving your CBC acceptance letter with information about setting up your CBC student email along with a temporary password.

Check your junk/spam folder. The email may have gone there!

Housing applications are processed on a first come, first serve basis. Co-ed room assignments are not allowed; all rooms are assigned based on the gender identity listed on the application. CBC reserves the right to refuse housing assignments for any reason.

Possibly. Each financial aid award package is unique. To find out if your financial aid can be applied to housing costs, please email CBC Financial Aid at financialaid@columbiabasin.edu or call (509) 542-5504.

Contracts are for the Academic Year (beginning of Fall Quarter in September ending Spring Quarter in June).  Residents have the option to extend their contract for Summer Quarter. by completing a Contract Extension Form.  Residents may cancel their housing contract early without penalty for the following reasons: 1) study abroad; 2) graduation; 3) medical withdrawal from the College; 4) significant or unanticipated personal hardship beyond the resident’s control; or 5) military deployment. Requests should be sent to the Director for Residential Life with documentation. Approval is not guaranteed.

Contract renewal for the following academic year requires completing the Resident Contract Renewal Form by April 15th. For requests after April 15th, residents may lose priority placement for their room preference.

Cable TV is not available.  Wireless internet is included in rent and available in all student rooms.

There is no external storage. There are bike lockers at Sunhawk Hall, and bike storage in the basement of Hawks Landing Hall.

Parking is limited and reserved for residents only.  Resident vehicles must be registered with the Office of Student Housing.  Owners with unregistered vehicles may be fined or have vehicles towed at their expense. Temporary parking passes are required for  guest vehicles.

Currently, no meal plans are offered. Micro Marts are located across campus, including the 3rd floor of Sunhawk Hall, and vending machines are available in the basement of Hawks Landing Hall. Each room unit is equipped with a kitchen and. grocery stores are located minutes away. We recommend that you purchase cooking utensils upon your arrival.

No pets are permitted in the building (even if they are just visiting). Service or assistance animals  needed for a resident’s disability are permitted with CBC Disability Support Services approval.

The entrances to both Sunhawk and Hawks Landing Halls remain locked 24/7 with electronic key access.  Additionally, the elevator and each floor in Hawks Landing Hall are secured, requiring electronic key access.  Suites for both buildings also require a key to enter.  Sunhawk suites use a hard key to lock/unlock the doors, while Hawks Landing will use electronic key access for the suites, and a hard key for individual rooms within a suite.

Student housing contracts are for the academic year ending in the spring quarter.  You do not have to move out during the break and are able to stay in your room.  Monthly rent is due and will not be pro-rated for breaks, even if you choose not to stay in the residence hall during that time.

Yes, a roommate agreement form will be included in your move-in packet.  Roommate agreement forms should be filled out once all roommates have moved in, or again when a new roommate moves in. Roommate agreement forms help set boundaries between roommates and foster healthy communicative and respectful living environments.

Residents are responsible for cleaning and upkeep of their suite. Custodians will do a partial room cleaning in a bedroom or shared sleeping area if a roommate recently moved out in preparation for a new roommate.  All other common areas should be maintained by the residents.

For all contract terminations, charges will accrue for cleaning, damage to the unit beyond normal wear and tear, or storage of abandoned property as applicable. The cleaning fee is assessed at a rate of $100.00 per hour, and storage will be at a rate of $10 per day.

There is no curfew for living in student housing.  Guests staying past 11:00 pm are required to submit an overnight guest request through the Housing Cloud request system

Laundry is available in both buildings.  In Sunhawk Hall it is on the 2nd floor, and in Hawks Landing Hall it is in the basement.  Laundry services for both buildings are included in your rent, though residents must provide their own detergent.

For maintenance issues please submit a Maintenance Request. If your request is an emergency, please contact the Resident Advisor on duty at 509-492-1208 or Campus Security at 509-542-4777 immediately. 
Examples of Emergency Maintenance Items:

  • Doors that cannot be secured or that will not allow access into the room
  • Fires
  • Flood/major leaks 
  • Lack of a single light source in which a temporary light source cannot be provided
  • Power failure
  • Stolen keys
  • Clogged or overflowed toilet
  • Lack of a single heat source in which a temporary heat source cannot be provided
  • The smell of gas
