Energy Northwest EN will present certifications to Columbia Basin College’s largest Nuclear Technology graduating class to earn their national certificates since the program’s start in 2009. Twenty graduates will be honored during a ceremony held at 6 p.m., on August 12th in the Center for Career and Technical Education Rotunda, on CBC’s Pasco campus.
The industry-recognized National Academy for Nuclear Training (NANT) certificate is awarded to graduates who receive a grade of B or better in all core courses of the nuclear technology curriculum. Through the industry partnership with EN, CBC is one of 33 colleges nationally and the only one in the state of Washington to have its program certified by the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations.
NANT, which is recognized by all U.S. nuclear power plants, allows a professional edge for its recipients and simplifies training for utilities. Since June’s commencement, more than half of the NANT awardees have received employment offers; two at EN.
This year’s NANT certificate recipients are: Kevin Biddle, Amanda Bowman, Racheal Calaway, Bengt Freepons, Brandon Gray, Seamus Hanley, David Linneman, Michael Mattozzi, Melanie McKenna, Timothy McMullen, Mathew Muscarella, Miguel Orozco, Dennis Overturf, Isaac Salifu, Allen Salalila, Sulaiman Sannoh, Franz Schulz, Laura Valdez-Carrillo, Raquel Valdez-Carrillo, and Richard Worley.
