Theatre offerings at Columbia Basin College are designed to:
- meet the requirements for the first two years of a bachelor of arts degree in theatre at four-year institutions
- enhance the theatre knowledge and performance ability of students
- help enter the professional field
- provide extracurricular, leisure activity
- enrich the appreciation of the theatre going public
The program provides a production schedule that will encourage both students and community participation as either audience members or production personnel.
Career opportunities include teaching theatre, professional acting, directing, designing, stage management, and working in the dramatic/film arts. Theatre classes may also better prepare students for careers in law, public relations, advertising, teaching effectiveness, and other careers where speaking or performing for the public is important. It is not necessary to be a theatre major to take theatre classes or to participate in CBC shows.
