Students should try to attend at least one Nuclear Technology Information Session prior to meeting with the Nuclear Technology Advisor. At these sessions information is provided about entrance requirements, the application process, and courses you can take prior to enrolling into the program. These sessions are held monthly throughout the year. If you are unable to attend an information session please contact the Nuclear Technology advisor to schedule an individual appointment.
Degree Seeking - Prerequisite Courses [NOT required before starting program]
Although not required, prospective degree-seeking students are encouraged to complete Nuclear Technology general education courses, prior to applying to the program. These courses provide points towards program entry and are requirements for the AAS degree. General education courses that may be completed prior to entry include the following:
Need help completing a degree plan? Uncertain which class(es) to take prior to beginning the Nuclear Technology program? Follow these steps: (1) Attend an Information Session, then (2) schedule an appointment with the NT Director for assistance. A quarter-by-quarter degree plan will be created based on your educational attainment.
To be eligible for the Columbia Basin College Nuclear Technology program, each of the following requirements must be met:
Qualified applications will be scored, of which the top applicants will be accepted into the fall 2016 class. Final selection of students are made after all transcript screening and evaluations are complete. Course work begins in the fall, after acceptance.
Non-Degree Seeking - For Personal & Professional Growth
Students interested in taking individual Nuclear Technology courses may do so for continued education, degree exploration, personal enrichment, incumbent worker training, and counts as a "restrictive elective." A maximum of 15 credit hours may be taken before a student must apply and be accepted into the Nuclear Technology program. Course enrollment is based on seat availability and the Dean's approval.
