PASCO, Wash. — Columbia Basin College hosted a bell ringing ceremony to honor Martin Luther King Jr.
Speakers talked about the importance of inclusion and the history of segregation in the Tri-Cities.
This is the 28th year the school has sounded the bells on MLK day.
"Today's a day to remember our Dr. Martin Luther King and what he has done for this country, but also for us humans to love one another and to be kind to one another and help one another,” said Edison Valerio who attended the event.
The Martin Luther King Jr. statue on CBC’s campus was put up in 1989. This is only the fourth statue of its kind to be approved by The King Foundation.
It symbolizes Dr. King’s belief that education is essential to positive social change.
