How the Tri-Cities 'Mars' rover stacked up at the NASA contest

Seven minutes.
That's how much time an astronaut has in the vacuum of space before running out of air to breathe.
It's also how long 100 teams of college and high school students had to peddle across a half-mile course to collect samples. All from on top of a "rover" built by each team.
The 11-member Tri-City team, the only one from Washington state, took 15th in the nationwide annual competition last weekend.
