This is a one-day class in which Evergreen Safety Council-certified instructors are authorized to provide operators with the basic knowledge needed to operate safely on Class 1,2,3,4 or 5 Powered Industrial Truck (PIT). This training is based on the federal regulations set out by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) in the Code of Federal Regulations.
This class provides all the necessary classroom and practical (hands-on) training required by OSHA, giving and operator safety card which is valid for 3 years. Note that additional on-the-job training will be needed from your employer to operate a specific forklift(s) there, recognize site-specific hazards, and correctly accomplish work-specific tasks (the forklift code requires that all forklift operators be evaluated by their employer by operating forklifts in the actual work environment). Participants must be 18 years of age or older to enroll in this class.
Topics covered in class include:
Common PIT features and operation, capacity and stability, inspection and maintenance, and workplace operation and hazards.
