Transfer Timeline
 

This is a general guide only. For specific deadlines and requirements, contact each prospective college directly. This is YOUR responsibility, not your instructors' or advisors'! Ask for help if you need it.

First Year

  • Explore majors. Take a career planning class or attend career/transfer workshops. Gather as much information as you can to help you decide on your major.
  • Send interest cards to colleges to get more information.
  • Visit the campuses you are considering.
  • Talk with college representatives that visit CBC.
  • Check transfer and program requirements at each college you are considering.


Second Year

FALL QUARTER

  • Research scholarships. The majority of scholarships are awarded by February, so don't wait!
  • Apply for scholarships.
  • Contact advisors at your prospective transfer schools.
  • Narrow down your choices.
  • Check deadlines!

Winter Break

  • Work on financial aid (FAFSA) application forms.
  • Obtain and complete admissions applications.
  • Request that an official copy of your transcript be mailed to your transfer school after winter grades are posted.
  • Keep working on the scholarship applications!!!

Winter Quarter

  • Submit your applications for scholarships, financial aid, and admissions. Most of these deadlines will occur Winter quarter!
  • Submit your FAFSA at www.fafsa.ed.gov as early as possible.
  • Complete graduation application the term before you plan to graduate.

Spring Break

  • Research housing and other important information about the campuses are considering.

Spring Quarter

  • Complete graduation requirements.
  • Accept/reject university offers.
  • Apply for housing (if needed).
  • Request an official transcript from CBC be sent to your transfer college.
  • Attend Transfer Orientation/Registration session at transfer school.
