Columbia Basin College welcomed a new board member at its meeting this week and bid another good-bye.
Bill Gordon of Pasco was appointed by Gov. Jay Inslee to finish the three-year term of former board member Sal Mendoza Jr. Mendoza, who resigned earlier this year after he was appointed as a judge to the Benton-Franklin County Superior Court.
Gordon, a Washington State University graduate, also is a board member for the Franklin Public Utility District and Energy Northwest. He moved to the region in 1980, starting a winery with his brother. He is now retired.
Also this week, board member Enriqueta Mayuga stepped down from her position. She has served since 2004 and her last term expired months ago but she remained on until Mendoza's seat was filled.
She said she learned a lot during her time on the board and thanked board members and college staff for their work to put CBC on stable footing.
Inslee will be appointing someone to fill her position.
