PASCO, Wash. - Columbia Basin College has named Kennewick Police Chief Ken Hohenberg the CBC Alumnus of the Year.
Administrators, teachers and community members gathered this morning to honor the chief. The board says they chose Hohenberg for his outstanding support for the college, his work as police chief and his dedication to the Tri-Cities.
"I don't feel like I'm deserving of the award," Hohenberg said, "I feel like I have a lot of work to do to pay it back, but I'm very honored. I'm in a position where I'm able to make a difference in the community, and a lot of that is a direct result of Columbia Basin College, and what they've done for me."
Chief Hohenberg graduated from CBC with a degree in law enforcement, and still credits much of his success to the college's first criminal justice instructor, the late Jim Ownby.
