Columbia Basin College welding students are completing a project creating a metal archway for the Benton Franklin Rodeo.
The ten-gauge steel frame shows a bucking horse with a lassoing cowboy. The archway will be placed at the entrance to the rodeo arena. The latest project is part of a continuing partnership between the CBC Welding program and the Benton Franklin Fair and Rodeo.
The partnership started in 2012 and continued this year with CBC welding students taking their spring break to modify and repair various areas of the fairgrounds including corrals, handrails, and bull riding chutes.
The rodeo archway will be completed at 10 a.m. Friday, August 9, and ready for loading and transport to the fairgrounds. The archway will be loaded outside the CBC Welding labs in the Center for Career and Technical Education. The archway is expected to be installed at the fairgrounds this weekend.
