North Idaho College art professor, Michael Horswill, will open the 2012-2013 art exhibition series in Esvelt Gallery with his "Dialogues' exhibit. The exhibit runs September 24-October 25.
Horswill's 30 sculptures were conceived as pairs that explore the creative conversation that arise with each sequence of artistic choices. Working in multiples prompts comparisons - such as why metal rather than wood, or why rough rather than smooth? Two pieces side-by-side reflect one another, not as a mirror exactly but more as a déjà vu or an echo. The dialogues reflect two different trajectories of a single conversation and highlight each work's uniqueness. The wide range of pairs represent sculptures, drawings, and mixed media pieces.
An artist's talk is scheduled for 3 p.m., Oct. 25 in P201 with a reception following in Esvelt Gallery which is open Monday-Thursday 8 a.m. - 8:30 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. - 12 p.m.
