For the January meeting of the local chapter of American Society for Quality, CBC instructor Shane Bruce will conduct a tour of the college’s diagnostic ultrasound facility for ASQ members and guests. The facility is in the Richland Health Science Center at 891 Northgate Drive, where check-in will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 8.
Non-invasive ultrasound uses highfrequency sound waves for imaging of body tissues. It’s a relatively low-cost procedure that does not use magnetic fields as in MRI technology or ionizing radiation like an x-ray. CBC’s Diagnostic Ultrasound Department provides coursework in sonography and associated patient care.
Bruce graduated from Oregon Institute of Technology with a degree in cardiovascular ultrasound. He is proficient in cardiac, vascular, obstetric and general uses of ultrasound. He has commercial experience with the techology and has taught at the college level for four years.
The cost to attend is $5 for all attendees, including ASQ members and non-members. Make reservations for the tour by Jan. 3 via e-mail to Panda_2@charter.net or call (509) 371-2221. For more information about ASQ, visit www.asq614.org.
