Taking advantage of the opportunity to register for Tech Prep credit while enrolled in Career and Technical Education classes with an approved articulation agreement, reduces time and tuition costs for a student's college education. Students are encouraged to contact their high school counselor or career specialist to determine Tech Prep classes offered at their high school and/or reference their high school course catalog or handbook.
To earn college credit for a Tech Prep approved class, high school students must:
- Be enrolled in the articulated CTE class for the academic year in which they are seeking credit. (Credit will not be back-dated. Students may only earn credit during the year in which they are enrolled.)
- Earn a grade percentage of 85 percent or better for EACH semester of enrollment required in the articulation agreement. (End of year averages does not count.)
- Register online in the SBCTC's Student Enrollment Reporting System (SERS) during the open registration period.
- Print, sign, and date the registration confirmation from the SERS system, and mail to the Director of Tech Prep at CBC by the submission deadline.
Students who meet all eligibility requirements will receive a congratulatory letter with notification of their CBC student identification number. Students who earned Tech Prep credits will have their college credit transcribed the summer following their academic year of enrollment and posted to their college transcript by September 1.
