Information Sessions
This program has a mandatory Medical Assistant information session requirement. Your questions will be answered by an Advisor/Counselor and/or a program representative. Anyone interested in a CBC Health Science program should attend. These sessions are free and open to the public. Students' friends and family members are welcome and encouraged to attend.
Prerequisites for acceptance in this program
College transcripts of applicants into the Medical Assistant program will be reviewed for the following courses:
- HSCI 147 Medical Terminology (was HIT147)
- PSYCH& 100 General Psychology
- ENGL& 101 English Composition 1
- Either CMST& 101 Speech Essentials or CMST& 220 Public Speaking
- MATH 083 and RDG 099 or higher on your ASSET/COMPASS scores or a college transcript with higher level classes successfully completed
Medical Assistant applications need to include a copy of the following healthcare documentation:
- Certificate of Completion for seven hours of HIV/AIDS Bloodbourne Pathogens Training
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider HCP CPR/AED card
- Current First Aid card

Acceptance Process
Accepted Medical Assistant applicants will be mailed an acceptance letter with invitation to the mandatory orientation scheduled for August 9th. Before this date, accepted students are required to submit a national background search by the College-approved vendor. This background account must be initiated and paid for by the student online before registration is allowed.
Medical Assistant program applications are available each year from May until June, note the due date listed on the application. Selected students will begin classes in September (fall quarter) and are expected to complete four consecutive quarters (ending summer quarter) in order to graduate.
