Adult Basic Education consists of two main areas of focus: ABE and General Education Development (GED) preparation. These classes serve the adult community and are available at the Learning Opportunities Center (LOC) on the Pasco campus. Professional staff members provide individualized instruction as well as small group instruction.
Adult Basic Education classes in reading, writing, and math serve the needs of the adult student, 18 years or older, who lacks these basic skills. Each person is tested and diagnosed for reading, writing, and math levels and is provided with appropriate materials for instruction.
The second option available within Adult Basic Education is the GED preparation program. Completion of this program prepares students for the GED test. Again, each person is tested and diagnosed for reading, writing, and math levels. Instruction may be individualized or in a classroom.
Cost
All Adult Basic Education/GED classes are offered for a tuition charge of $25 per quarter to residents of Benton and Franklin counties. Please note that the $25 tuition charge is per quarter, not per class. Eligible students may receive a tuition waiver.
Class Schedule
Classes are offered both during the day and in the evening. New students are required to attend an orientation before registering for classes. Classes are offered on a quarterly basis four times per year.
GED Testing
Testing is offered on CBC's campus in the
Assessment Center. It is not necessary to take classes in order to take the GED tests.
