This LitFest event will feature a reading, talk, and signing by Maureen McQuerry, Northwest author.
Bill McKay (Piano) and guests will by playing music prior to reading, starting at about 6:30 p.m. There will be a small reception, sponsored by the Richland Library Foundation..
Maureen McQuerry is a novelist, poet and teacher. Her most recent novel for young adults, The Peculiars, has been named as a best of the year by YASLA/ALA, Bank Street and Westchester Awards. A starred review from Booklist says, “McQuerry offers a brooding northwest setting touched by steampunk elements to tell a story that is in equal parts inventive fantasy, light romance, and thrilling adventure. With a backdrop as strong as its heroine, this one is a page-turner.” Starred Review Booklist
Her next two novels are for middle grade readers. Beyond the Door and The Telling Stone and will be published by Abrams/Amulet in 2014. Maureen began her writing career as a poet and has been published in many literary journals including Smartish Pace, Quidditty and The Southern Review. Her chapbook Relentless Light was the winner of the New Eden Chapbook award. Maureen McQuerry teaches at Columbia Basin College
