The Bachelor of Applied Science in Teacher Education (BASTE): Residency Teacher Preparation Program with Early Childhood Education Endorsement prepares teacher candidates with content and subject knowledge required for teaching in pre-k through 3rd grade classrooms in Washington public schools. Using a cohort model, this 2-year program supplements knowledge and experience earned from previous degrees in early childhood education (or closely related) with 3-400 level courses and student teaching.
The program is built on the existing Associate in Applied Science (AAS) in Early Childhood Education (ECE) degree. A total of 93 credits from the AAS degree are included in the 187 total credits required for the BAS degree.
Enrollment & Program Cost (AY 2018-19 rate)
In fall 2019, the program will have the first full-time cohort of 20 students. In summer 2020, the program will have the first part-time cohort.

Evening classes for working students, face to face & hybrid courses, a total of 450 hours of field experience through student teaching, cohort model with peer support.
