Diversity is of paramount importance to CBC. CBC prides itself on building a campus that is welcoming and accessible to ALL persons; especially traditionally underserved and underrepresented members of our community. These efforts show in our commitment to diversity in our student body, faculty, staff, curricula, architecture, art, and activities.
Vision
CBC's Office of Diversity aspires to enhance diversity beyond equal employment opportunity/affirmative action by enabling all individuals, the institution, and our community partners to discover and value our uniqueness and diversity in thought, person, and opportunities.
Mission
The Office of Diversity exists to promote awareness and understanding of the College's progress in all areas of diversity. Our diversity mission is to promote educational access and support to ALL of the residents of our service district.
Scholarship Opportunities
At-risk, first-generation, and minority students have numerous scholarship opportunities available to them at CBC. Scholarships that are based on need, ethnicity, first-generation status, discipline, or vocation are all available through a variety of sources.
For the 2011-2012 academic year, the CBC Foundation awarded more than 322 scholarships. In total, $417,000 in scholarships were given out to students, many which are based on financial need. The Office of Diversity also awards scholarships to underrepresented students. Opportunities are available for African American students to receive scholarships through the Office of Diversity and the Afro-Americans for an Academic Society (AAAS) organization, which awards a $1,000 scholarship annually.
Federal grant programs at CBC also provide scholarship opportunities to students.
