A record number of students at Columbia Basin College receive scholarships today for the 2013 - 2014 school year.
416 students received a total of $830,000 this morning at the Pasco Red Lion.
That amount tops last year's record donation amount of $560,000.
CBC Foundation members say the increase in scholarship donations comes from community members, investment returns from endowed scholarships, and significant returns from special events for the college.
"It's gonna be a great help, pay for books, some of my tuition, they split it up into each quarter, so fall, winter, spring, major help like I said. It was hard work writing the essay and things like that, but I got awarded it and I'm very appreciative of it" said Kaynen Brown, psychology major.
550 students applied for scholarships this year.
