Fluor Federal Services has taken a large step in helping CBC by generously donating 50 laptop computers to CBC students. A ceremony was held today in Gjerde Center to honor the students and thank Fluor Federal Services.
Fluor Federal Services' Vice President and Executive Project Director, Tony Umek says:
"Fluor is pleased to provide these deserving students with tools that will help them reach their educational goals. We have a long history of furthering education in our community and are happy to give these computers to students who might not be able to afford them. Given the importance of adequate technology in the engineering and science fields, we hope this donation will produce students who might be future Fluor employees."
CBC President, Rich Cummins, wants all students in need to receive help:
"Part of my job as president is to see how we can help those students in need. Today, if you're a college student without a laptop computer, you are in need. CBC is grateful to Fluor Federal Services for its generous donation to our students. This is yet another way Fluor has stepped to the forefront in building our community through the delivery of technology for our students."
The students awarded the laptops were chosen by a random drawing from a list of those utilizing CBC's laptop loaner program through the CBC Library.
