39-year old Tracie Welliver is one of three winners across the nation
who won a $1,000 Working Parent Scholarship. The scholarship came from
the company Job-Applications.com.
“I was going to have to postpone going to school because of financial
hardship. When I got the news that I had won the scholarship contest, I
almost cried. This scholarship will allow me to continue my education
without hurting my family financially,” said Welliver.
Welliver is a student at Columbia Basin College. Welliver has four boy between the ages of nine and 17.
Welliver said she works in management now and is pursuing a business degree.
“Without this scholarship, I don't know when I would be able to afford to take the classes I need to finish school,” she said.
In addition to Welliver, Job-Applications.com awarded Working Parent
Scholarships to: Mark Hobbs of Logan, Utah and Ryan Judd of Yucaipa,
"We had an outstanding group of essays to select from. Instead of
picking just one essay, we selected the top three," said Crawford.
The Job-Applications.com Working Parent Scholarship is designed to help working parents cover the costs of higher education.
“Working parents throughout the United States are having a difficult
time covering their bills, particularly as they return to school to get a
degree that will help them land good-paying jobs,” said Crawford.
