Where do I go and how do I schedule the Getting Started Steps?
These step are online and may be completed from any computer with Internet access and audio ability.
How long will it take to complete these steps?
Since several of these steps require an appointment to be completed, it may take several logins to complete.
What is my PIN?
Your PIN number is your six-digit birth date (mmddyy) for your initial login. Please write down your new PIN upon changing it.
I have completed my Getting Started Steps, why can't I register?
After completing the SOAR presentation, which is the last step, registration will be verified and blocks will be removed twice a day, Monday – Friday during regular business hours. During weekends and holidays, SOAR completion will be processed the next business day.
Also, if you placed below college level in two or more subject areas on your COMPASS placement assessment, you are required to schedule a Post SOAR Advising/Registration Session (PSA) to register for classes.
Note: The SOAR presentation is available to complete prior to class registration dates, so please note that you will not be able to register until the class registration dates.
When can I meet with a counselor/advisor?
If you placed above college level in two or more subject areas on your COMPASS placement assessment, you may access advising by contacting the Counseling/Advising Center after completing the last step, SOAR.
If you placed below college level in two or more subject areas on your COMPASS placement assessment, you are required to schedule a Post SOAR Advising/Registration session to register for classes after completing the last step, SOAR.
What is Post SOAR Advising/Registration (PSA)?
Post SOAR Advising/Registration is a mandatory advising and registration session with a counselor/advisor to assist you with the selection and advising of first quarter courses.
How do I schedule Post SOAR Advising/Registration?
Login to Getting Started and click "next" until you arrive at the "Post SOAR Advising/Registration" step. This is available after completing module 6 of the SOAR presentation.
Do I need to take the COMPASS assessment test before completing the steps?
Yes, it is required that you schedule and take the COMPASS test prior to completing the rest of the process.
When can I access Getting Started?
Access is available 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. daily.
What are the technology requirements?
You will need access to the Internet and a reliable computer. We recommend the use of Internet Explorer 7/greater or Firefox browsers. We also suggest not using a wireless connection. (Viewing on a smart phone is not available.)
Parts of the steps require audio, therefore the use of headphones or speakers will be necessary.
What if I don't have a computer to use?
If you don't have a computer with the above technology requirements, please visit Admissions to check out headphones to use at a kiosk computer. Please be aware, computers are limited.
