Head Coach Cheryl Holden recently announced freshman Courtney Nelson
the women's basketball Athlete of the Month for January. The Hawks' record is 17-3 as CBC enters the second half of conference play.
Nelson's contributions include averaging 16.6 points per game, adding 7 rebounds per game. Courtney shot 53% from the field and 89% from the free throw line.
Coach Holden says "Courtney has been one of the top offensive threats in the league this year, but her improvement on defense and rebounding have really made her a complete player. She is one of the main reasons why we are having a successful season."
Columbia Basin College men's basketball coach Rolando Garcia recently
announced freshman Andrew Reddout has been recognized as
the men's Athlete of the Month for January.
Reddout averaged 16.3 points per game on 68% shooting from the field and 77% from the line. Averaging seven rebounds per contest, Reddout paced CBC on the boards in January.
Coach Garcia says "Andrew has been a rock for us in conference play. He shown the ability to score night-in and night-out, in a variety of ways. At 6'3" he does this despite being assigned to the opposition's tallest player each game."
