Sexual Harassment
CBC is committed to maintaining a college environment free from all forms of discrimination, including sexual harassment. Procedures have been established to deal with sexual harassment and notification of sexual offenders on campus. These are listed below:
- Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination (CBC Administrative Policy and Procedure 3-140)
Sexual Offender Notification
The "Campus Sex Crimes Prevention Act" of 2000 requires institutions of higher education to advise the campus community where law enforcement information concerning registered sex offenders may be obtained. Columbia Basin College provides a link to the Benton County (http://www.sheriffalerts.com/cap_main.php?office=54457) and Franklin County (www.co.franklin.wa.us/sheriff) websites as well as to the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs website (http://ml.waspc.org/). Registry information should be used for the purposes of the administration of criminal justice, screening of current or prospective employees, volunteers, or otherwise for the protection of the public in general and children in particular. Unlawful use of the information for purposes of intimidating or harassing another is prohibited and willful violation shall be punishable as a Class I misdemeanor.
Gender Equity in Athletics
The Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act requires postsecondary institutions to provide information as a condition for continued participation in federal student financial aid programs in Athletics. The
information that CBC has provided can assist prospective student-athletes in making decisions about their potential or continued enrollment at CBC. Prospective and current students, and the public, also can use the information to assess CBC's commitment to and progress toward gender equity in its intercollegiate athletic program.
