Diversity is of paramount importance to Columbia Basin College. CBC prides itself on building a campus that is welcoming and accessible to ALL persons; especially traditionally underserved and underrepresented members of our community. These efforts show in our commitment to diversity in our student body, faculty, staff, curricula, architecture, art, and activities.

Scholarship Opportunities
At-risk, first-generation, and minority students have numerous scholarship opportunities available to them at Columbia Basin College. Scholarships that are based on need, ethnicity, first-generation status, discipline, or vocation are all available through a variety of sources.
For the 2008-2009 academic year, the CBC Foundation awarded $213,900 in scholarships to 168 students, many of which are based on financial need. The Office of Diversity also awards scholarships to underrepresented students. In January 2008, Multicultural College Night was held and four students received scholarships. Two students received $1,000 scholarships and two received $750 scholarships. Opportunities are available for African American students to receive scholarships through the Office of Diversity and the Afro-Americans for an Academic Society (AAAS) organization, which awards three $500 scholarships annually.
Federal grant programs also provide scholarships to students.
