Meet the Board
Salvador Beltran, Jr., Chair
Appointed in 2003. Salvador Beltran, Jr. is a retired vice principal of Pasco High School; former middle school principal, Truth or Consequences, New Mexico; and former high school principal, Gallina, New Mexico. Beltran holds a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish and Social Studies and a master of arts in School Administration from Western New Mexico University. He is a member of the Executive Committee Board of Community Family Medical Care, Pasco; past member of the Governors Committee on Disabilities and Employment; Pasco Chief of Police Advisory Board; Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree; American Cancer Society; Retired School Administrators Association; 173rd Airborne Association; and Hispanic American Airborne Association.

Renee Finke, Vice Chair
Appointed in 2007. Trustee Finke is a graduate of Columbia Basin College and received her bachelor's degree from Central Washington University and her MBA from Eastern Washington University. She works at Hanford in the budget/procurement area.

Sherry Armijo
Appointed in 2009. Sherry Armijo attended CBC in the mid-1980s and graduated from Eastern Washington University with a degree in Marketing and a minor in Economics. She is the Vice President of Sales at Abadan in Richland, is a founding member of the Hispanic Academic Achievers Program (HAAP), and was a board member and former president of the Eastern Washington chapter of March of Dimes. Sherry is involved in many other community activities as well. She lives in Pasco with her husband, Frank, who is a former CBC Trustee, and their two daughters.
Wayne J. Martin
Appointed in 2000. Wayne Martin is an environmental scientist for the technical group at Battelle, Pacific Northwest National Laboratories. Martin holds a Ph.D. in Environmental and Natural Resource Sciences from Washington State University. He is a member of the National Society of Black Engineers; Local Advisory Board for Math, Engineering, Science Achievement (MESA) Program; previous member of Local Hanford Advisory Board, American Geophysical Union and Hazardous Material Control Research Institute.

Enriqueta Mayuga
Appointed in 2004. Trustee Enriqueta Mayuga earned her M.D. at the University of Santo Tomas, Manila, Philippines. She currently is in private practice and on medical staff at Our Lady of Lourdes, Kennewick General, Kadlec Medical Center and La Clinica. Her professional achievements include being named Franklin County Physician of the Year and Diplomate of the American Board of OB/GYN. Dr. Mayuga's professional affiliations include the Tri-Cities OIC Board of Directors; Catholic Daughters of America; Toastmasters; Mid-Columbia Symphony Board; Benton-Franklin County Medical Society; Mid-Columbian Asian-American Organization; Filipino-American Organization of the Tri-Cities Goodwill Organization.
Richard Cummins, Ph.D., CBC President
President since July 2008, President Cummins was educated at the University of Cincinnati (B.A, 1982), the University of Arizona (M.F.A., 1985), and Gonzaga University (Ph.D., 2008). Cummins has worked at Columbia Basin College since 1990. Prior to his presidency, he worked as an associate professor in the English Department and as a dean, vice president, and acting president. He has co-authored a book on writing and published numerous peer-reviewed articles and poems in various national publications.

Purpose of the Board
The purpose of governance is that the board, on behalf of the citizens of Benton and Franklin counties, ensures the accountability of Columbia Basin College by assuring that it (a) achieves appropriate results for the appropriate recipients at an appropriate cost and (b) avoids unacceptable activities, conditions and decisions. Board Members are appointed by the Governor of the state of Washington. Board Policies can be found at the attached link.
Board Meetings
Board meetings are scheduled for the second Monday of each month at 4:00 p.m. in the CBC Board Room (A Building). **Notice: There will be no Board of Trustees' meeting in July.** Meetings are open to the public. Agendas for upcoming and past meetings can be accessed at the attached link. Minutes from past meetings can also be accessed.
