The Bone Densitometry (DexaScan) short-term program is designed to prepare Radiologic Technologists, Nuclear Medicine Technologists, or Radiologic Therapists in the specialized emerging area of bone densitometry. Lecture, lab, and academic coursework are offered to prepare students for the advanced level certification exam offered by the ARRT and ISCD in Bone Densitometry. Lab time is scheduled with live models and modern DexaScan equipment to facilitate competency development in positioning for bone densitometry exams. The clinical course will include 132 hours of hands-on clinical experience that facilitates competency development in all the required procedures identified by ARRT and ISCD for advanced level certification.
Students may need additional work experience to satisfy the minimum number of exams to be accomplished under supervision to qualify for the exam.
