The Columbia Basin College Nursing program admits one class per school year each fall. Each year, the program admits approximately 50-60 students.
The following applications provide the necessary materials for students applying to the CBC Nursing program for fall 2010.
- Nursing Application - For students applying to begin the CBC Nursing program.
- Nursing Advanced Placement Application - For students applying to the second year of the CBC Nursing program. Students must have a current LPN license and be seeking admission to the RN portion of the CBC Nursing program only.
- Nursing Transfer Application - For students applying to transfer from another nursing program to CBC's nursing program.
All students have until the end of winter quarter 2010 to complete classes that will be counted in the Admission Index System. Students taking winter quarter classes that count toward points for the admission index will report on the application what courses they are currently enrolled in. Winter quarter transcripts for those classes will be due by April 1, 2010.
Semester courses (courses from outside universities) that end after April 1, 2010, will not be considered. Student acceptance will be determined by May 30, 2010.
For all students considering entrance into the CBC Nursing program, it is essential that CBC Admissions have:
- CBC college application on file. (Cost of application is $28.30).
- Official transcripts from all schools the student has attended. Please have these sent to Admissions, not the Nursing program.
- TEAS test on file. (Test fee is $43.50). Please see TEAS Testing Schedule.
- CBC Nursing Application filed by March 1, 2010, with a $29 processing fee.
It is the student's responsibility to follow-up with CBC Admissions to assure that transcripts have arrived and have been evaluated.
The Columbia Basin College Nursing program utilizes three elements for admission. Those elements include (A) cumulative grade point average among selected prerequisite courses, (B) pre-nursing assessment score, and (C) departmental course completion score index. Each of these elements is explained in Entrance Requirements. These three elements will be combined for a total Nursing Program Admissions Index Score based on a total point value of 30 points.
A Microsoft Excel tool has been created to help prospective students calculate their possible Admissions Index Score. This tool, created for prospective student use, is not intended to calculate the official Admissions Index Score. The final Admissions Index Score is only valid when calculated by Admissions/Registration staff and the Nursing program upon review of official transcripts and other necessary documents to support the final score. To access the file, please visit the Student Self Assessment Tool page.
Applications for fall 2010 will be accepted between January 1, 2010, and March 1, 2010. Students must complete all required courses for evaluation by the end of winter quarter 2010. All courses must be verified by official transcript and accompany the application materials.
