Columbia Basin College Forum is a speaker series that introduces diverse perspectives to the campus and area community. Distinguished guests speak on a variety of issues, ranging from healthcare concerns to race and ethics. A list of upcoming forum events appears below.

Community Response to Poverty

Location: CBC Theatre
This is the third forum in a series spotlighting the complex problem of poverty which continues to affect out community. The focus of this forum will be on local community and state government response to poverty in Washington state.
Participating agencies include: Tri-Cities Food Bank, 2-1-1, United Way, La Clinica, Grace Clinic, CBC Resource Center, Women Helping Women, St. Vincent de Paul, and The Salvation Army, Washington Department of Social and Health Services, and WA Employment Security Department.
Please bring canned food which will be given to local needy families.
Past Forums
The Cycle of Poverty
The first in a series of forums to address the complex issue of poverty. Part I addressed the problem; breaking down stereotypes of those living in poverty and how poverty impacts society as a whole.
Healthcare CrisisCBC hosted the healthcare forum to address the crisis in healthcare in the United States. A panel of experts included a faculty member from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the President and CEO of Group Health Cooperative.
Poverty in the Midst of Prosperity in the Tri-Cities: The Caring Community
A panel of local service agencies and CBC staff/faculty spoke on the issue of poverty here in the Tri-Cities. --April 25, 2002
Why War
A standing room only crowd attended the forum to discuss war with Iraq. The "Why War Forum" brought together a diverse panel to discuss the issue. War began less than two months later.
In the Wake of 9-11
CBC held "In the Wake of 9-11" following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks to provide the community varying perspectives about the tragedy.
