Mission Statement
Student Success Gurus of the Office of Student Success and Retention are committed to serving the students of Columbia Basin College with equality and enthusiasm, encouraging and stimulating students' academic goals and achievements. Gurus personify a variety of characteristics of scholastic success and a broad range of backgrounds and experiences. They are also provided with specialized training to ensure that they can serve as a support system and create a positive environment in which student peers are motivated to become more successful college students, and continue to be successful in today's ever-changing society. Gurus may prepare materials, participate in activities, and offer guidance to student peers on such topics as test taking strategies, time management, on-campus resources and services, ED 100 and WebCT orientations, study skills, and FYI.
