2010 |
CBC's softball team enters the 2010 campaign with many new faces as CBC returns only three players from last year's lineup. Leading the return is First-Team East Region selection Sandra Brummett who will look to anchor the middle infield. Joining Brummett as returners are outfielder Sarah O'Brien and utility player Jasmine Reyes. Th
e trio will work with 13 new faces in an effort to improve on the Hawk's 5th place finish in the always tough East Region. Eyeing a trip to the NWAACC Championships, the Hawks will use a deeper line-up as well as a revamped pitching staff.
The key ingredient to a successful season will lie in the hands of the Hawk's new pitching staff. Two high school All-State pitchers, Debbie Molsbarger and Michelle Wheeler, will team up with Taylor Bakos to handle the season's pitching duties. All three pitchers bring a wealth of experience in the circle and all provide a different style of pitching. Competing for time behind the plate are Breezy Lounsbury, Erica Wheeler, and Chani Brisby.
Freshmen Amanda Hall, Sara Bakos, and Molsbarger will look to help Brummett with the fielding duties in the infield. Also look for freshman Amber Durand to make an impact in the infield as well. This year's outfield will be led by O'Brien who makes the move from left field to centerfield with Reyes making the move to left. Also working for time in the outfield are freshmen Lexi Hess, Kelsey Schalock, Taylor Bakos, and Molsbarger. Rounding out the rest of the Hawk's roster are freshmen Shelly Kentner and Megan Carreras.
Entering his third season as head coach, Eric Weisgerber looks for great things from this year's team. Returning to Weisgerber's staff for his second year is assistant coach Adrian Ochoa. The two welcome newcomer Alex Cuello to the staff. Weisgerber will oversee the pitching duties and assist with the offense. Ochoa will work primarily with the squad's hitters and infield as well as assist with the pitchers. Cuello, who works as an assistant coach for Ochoa's club team the Washington Spirit Gold, will handle the outfield and assist in all aspects of the game.
The Hawks open the 2010 season at home on March 6 and will play in the Tri-Cities the first three weeks of March.
