CELEBRATING MORE THAN 40 YEARS OF ENTERTAINMENT
Columbia Basin College and the Arts and Humanities Division is proud to present another showcase season filled with theatre, art, and music! Showcase is one of the ways we continue the College's mission of cultural enrichment to the community. Although we offer countless numbers of exhibits, concerts, and plays during the year, showcase is unique in that it has added community involvement in the talent on and off the stage.
No outdoor show in 2009
For the second time in 22 years, the outdoor stage will be dark. Major refurbishments are needed and they should happen this summer, so we won't be acting on it.

NUNSENSE
A musical comedy by Dan Goggin
Nunsense begins when the Little Sisters of Hoboken discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters, and they are in dire need of funds for the burials. The sisters decide that the best way to raise the money is to put on a variety show, so they take over the school auditorium, which is currently set up for the eighth grade production of "Grease." Here we meet Reverend Mother Regina, a former circus performer; Sister Mary Hubert, the Mistress of Novices; a streetwise nun from Brooklyn named Sister Robert Anne; Sister Mary Leo, a novice who is a wannabe ballerina; and the delightfully wacky Sister Mary Amnesia, the nun who lost her memory when a crucifix fell on her head.
Features the original members of the CBC cast: Joyce Bean, Marsha Polk, Signe Wurstner, Melina Hall, and "Father Bill McKay" on piano.

PRIVATE EYES
A non-musical by Steven Dietz
A comedy of suspicion in which nothing is ever quite what it seems. Matthew's wife, Lisa, is having an affair with Adrian, a British theatre director. Or perhaps the affair is part of the play being rehearsed. Or perhaps Matthew has imagined all of it simply to have something to report to Frank, his therapist. And, finally, there is Cory - the mysterious woman who seems to shadow the others - who brings the story to its surprising conclusion. Or does she? The audience itself plays the role of detective in this hilarious "relationship thriller" about love, lust, and the power of deception.

SIGNAL
July 13 – August 13, 2009
July 13: Artist Presentation, 6 p.m., room L102
Opening Reception, 7 p.m., Esvelt Gallery
SIGNAL is a multi-media exhibition featuring paintings, sculpture, video projection, and a drawing performance by Montana artist Andrew Schell. These components work together to expand the traditional notion of painting and drawing through a complex engaging installation. The exhibition is the fourth alteration of "a work in progress" that explores a journey of transformation and metamorphosis. Examining the line between public and private spaces, the work creates boundaries that questions just who is watching and who is being watched.
