Chemistry

The central science

Chemistry is the study of the complex compounds and chemical processes that make up the universe. As a student at Columbia Basin College (CBC), you can choose from a large variety of chemistry courses to suit to your interests or desired degree and career path:

  • Introductory courses for students who want to learn more about chemistry.
  •  Focused courses required for students going into Allied Health fields, nuclear technology and agriculture.
  • General, organic and analytical chemistry courses for science, engineering and pre-professional majors.
  • Get hands-on academic experience through undergraduate research opportunities.

Chemistry courses are taught in state-of-the-art laboratories that feature individual fume hoods, data acquisition capability, spectroscopic instrumentation infrared, ultraviolet/visible, atomic absorption, nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectrometers) as well as chromatographic and electrochemical instrumentation.

“The chemistry classes are challenging and push me to work hard. The instructors at CBC are extremely helpful, in and outside of lectures.”
